Great local bar. The best place to catch football. It's never crazy crowded for football like other places and they have 50cent Wings, which are really tasty. The bartender told us they smoke the wings for 2 hours prior to frying them so they have a nice smoky hint. The service is always great. At night it can get pretty crowded. They also have a bunch of seats outside on a front patio and have a projector that plays certain fights, games etc against a wall. Best no frills bar in boca.

So I have stopped by here a few times and it's a great little pub. The drinks are stiff hence the 3 stars. The people behind the bar, ahhh... Just go in with the expectation of ordering a drink,it coming back to you the way you expected, pay and move on. It seems like a pretty tight little group that gangs out near the window area that knows each other and the bartender loves talking to them. The same crowd of people in the same area just talking and the Bartender taks care of them. All I can say is that it is convenient to my place, walking distance so we have hit it up for happy hour which again hence the 3 stars is half price drinks and think I paid like $5.00 for two drinks... Not bad for Boca. Will go again and my expectation will be the same. Just think of the great priced drinks...

If you've graduated from college bars and want a hang that's not going to be overrun with frat douche bags and little sororisluts and just want to hang out with your close friends then this place is perfect for you. I've been coming here for the last couple of years and it's the perfect spot to hang out on any given day or night. It's perfect for NFL Sundays, NBA playoffs, and on the weekends. I will say that about 80% of the people that hang out there are long time regulars, but that's the best part. The crew that hangs out at the Rose is like family and you can always count on your friends being there. Some people give this place a bad rep but if you put in the effort to get to know the bartenders, the bouncers, and even the cooks, you'll find out how great this place is. And for the food? Try the wings. Black Rose wings are sensational. Some of the best in Boca.

I stayed at a nearby hotel on Saturday and decided to order in. The delivery guy was punctual and goodnatured but that's pretty much the only good thing about the experience. I've never felt insulted by a meal before now. Their burger was a dry hockey puck of meat lain over a limp leaf of lettuce. The Mozzarella Sticks were store-bought quality. The shepherd's pie had a baby's first Bowel Movement consistency and tasted like it was made from potato flakes. The brownie was a steaming suet of dog vomit and (low quality) chocolate syrup. The only thing that was nearly acceptable is the Chicken and Three Cheese Quesadillas, which were only slightly scorched but still edible and pretty decent tasting. Even that was ruined by the fact that they sent it with old pico de gallo and a guacamole that was made of super hard, brown, fermented, caribbean avocados that couldn't be mashed into a paste at all. So either they don't have a chef or the one they do have doesn't care on the weekends. Stick to their drinks but go somewhere else to eat. Even the bored 14 year old who works at the local Wendy's would show you more respect.

I like the bar, but parking is always challenging anywhere in the South of Mizner area. The food is good, but the service is always poor. Mostly because they are under staffed for the crowd they draw. I still come back over and over. They always have the UFC fights and good IPA on tap.

I've tried to like the Black Rose, but I just don't. The staff isn't particularly friendly and I just don't find it comfortable. On my most recent visit, my friends and I sat outside because it was a nice evening. It also happened to be during the NBA Playoffs (and, of course, The Heat was playing). So what, right? The manager set up a projector to project the game on the side of the building and put the game on as loud as possible. We couldn't even talk to each other once the game was on. It was awful. The food was mediocre. The price is average, so I guess it has that going for it. But, I don't see myself going back. That was not a good experience at all.

Walking into Black Rose, the outdoor section is quant even though on summer nights it can be extremely hot and everyone is legit sweating profusely. Please look into getting huge fans that will circulate some air in the outdoor space. Luckily, if outside is too hot, they have an indoor bar. Unfortunately getting a drink is so hard, I usually have to climb over three or four people to get a bartender's attention. Do not go on sports events nights unless you want to be rubbed and pushed around by every human there. If you are interested in the game, the outdoor space has a huge projection screen so this is your spot. Bottom line, some good things some bad things but it's an overall nice transition from the mizner bars.

Bartenders are cute, fun and personable! Awesome bar! Where else can I find 3$ Jameson?!

Like a fine wine, this place only get better with age. It's made especially better by Mo and her always friendly (never rude) attitude. They do no serve fine wine but it's cheap and gets you drunk.

    (5)
  • Jack M.

The place has a nice big patio to hang out. I come here a lot and I've used to enjoy it. However, lately the bartenders are often drunk and rude. One might charge you on the same drink different than another. Hope to see the better customer service soon.

Great Saturday Happy Hour. Mo the Bartender is great. Always quick with a joke or a light of a smoke. (Outside. You cant smoke inside)

What a gem in Boca. The staff are incredible and the service is second to none. Great food and drink specials served with a smile. Highly recommend you check this place out!!!

In the Boca area, the Black Rose has the cheapest happy hour, excellent food and a the friendliest staff. Some of my best nights have been spent chilling at their bar or out on the patio watching sports in the big screen. They also feature live bands and karaoke nights. Their Halloween and St. Patrick's parties are unparalleled but don't wait to go there on the best bar holidays. Go sooner. You'll have a good time.

  • Mo S.

This place has the most ridiculous happy hour in all of Boca. Probably the only bar you can find 2$ beers at still. Staff if super friendly, and the outdoor patio is massive. The owner is usually around to say hi too!

  • Scott P.

This is an excellent "locals" spot in Boca. Lots of interesting people to meet, extremely causal, great staff and the price is right. Food is above average for bar food and the drinks are just right. The have various types of specials and weekly events too. Probably the best courtyard in all of downtown to watch games and drink outside. Highly recommend this spot for a drink with good friends and to meet some new ones.

Awesome local spot. drinks, food, great prices, good spot for sports due to huge projection in beer garden.

Kick ass place, in a great location, easy to skate to :) I mean this completely positive, but its like a nice hole in the wall, kinda dive-y, but very clean, great layout, lots of places to sit and drink and have conversations without feeling like every other patron is listening. The staff are also FUCKING GREAT, as in REALLY AWESOME. While I strive to be thorough, I honestly can't remember how the prices are (though my gentlemen-ly bros always pick up my tab). Its also great because it is right next to a few other bars and makes for an easy and safe night of barhopping. Also has outdoor seating, which is good for dogs that like to bar hop :)

Bus Loops - THUMBS DOWN My first experience at The Black Rose was this last Friday as part of Bus Loop. Bus Loops is sold as a package deal that gives you one free drink or appetizer per location. The confirmation email we received after purchasing tickets also stated this, as did our bus loop card (see photo) that is what we presented at each bar upon arrival to redeem the deal. Before we even made it into the courtyard outside the Black Rose an employee told us that the deal was actually buy one drink, get one free. At this point we noticed several people walking out but decided to head in anyway and inquire. The bartender who helped us confirmed this and when I asked to speak to a manager she said he was "over there" (and pointed) but that he "just worked there" like everybody else and only the owner could help us. We left, as there were several other stops on the Bus Loops that we're honoring their deal left for us to visit. However, the bait and switch that Black Rose pulled was BS, and inappropriate.

Stopped in to watch the US take on Germany in the World Cup. Luckily we grabbed a seat before the place filled up. Unfortunately there is a huge lack of leadership and foresight here as they had two servers and one cook working a packed house. Our food took over 45 minutes to arrive and was palatable at best- the fish and chips were bland and the Shepard Pie was watery. Drinks were refilled sporadically as well due to the lack of servers. As for watching the game, it seemed like a great setup, until the adjoining room would cheer/groan seconds before the main room. This really ruined the experience. Due to these issues, I can't recommend supporting this place, and won't return.

This is a great bar alternative compared to some of the larger, hip / trendy / upscale bars with really expensive drinks. The only alternative to those places in the area are smoking bars and I am not a smoker! This is a very comfortable bar with good staff, plenty of TVs, a great outdoor seating area, they are dog friendly and last but not least they have very good drink prices. They have the best happy hour offerings in town and their draft beer is fantastic - always fresh, never skunked so you can tell they take pride in keeping the taps clean. I have also seen some good live bands play here from time to time so if you may want to check out their calendar if that is what you are looking for. I have not had much food here so cannot vouch for that one way or another but this is a great bar if you are looking for something different in the Mizner area.

A friend and I are in town for deep sea fishing so stopped here for some Irish fare and watch Notre Dame play FSU. Service not very good and a drunk sitting at the bar fell off his chair backwards onto the floor (lucky he didn't crack the back of his head open). Could NOT believe it!! Gives us Irish a bad name (like we don't work hard enuf at it lol)! Now the food: ordered the fried sampler platter with jalapeño poppers, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks (so-so). We each had the fish n chips and Guiness draft. Fish n chips was nice and crunchy and had great presentation. The cook worked hard at it and I told the server to let him know; he said he would. Give the cook 5 stars! So, if you want to hang with some drunks, watch sports, and eat fairly good food, eat here.

Went for fish n chips and beers before our movie. Happy hour was good. Service was pleasant. Food was good. But it took over an hour for my shepherd pie to arrive. Kinda annoying. It's got a great outdoor area where you can sit, relax, drink n watch a game. Cheap!

Good prices and relax environment. Indoor and outdoor sitting. Very spacious. I wish they had more food. Cool place in boca.

I ventured over here one night from nearby Biergarten and was definitely NOT a fan. There's a bouncer in one entrance who takes his job a little too seriously, but the doors leading to the sidewalk on Federal have no one ID-ing people (not that I care to be honest I just like consistency). My whiskey and water was pretty much all water, and the crowd was really unsavory for lack of a better word. My friend felt like her purse was going to get stolen if she set it down. In conclusion, I won't be back.

Awesome environment. Food and staff are incredible. If I lived local, I would absolutely be a regular. Great for games, happy hour is cheap. Two thumbs up.

Love this place! It's just a local bar, great prices and great food! They have the best wings, they're so crispy and have a smokey flavor to them. Ask for Suzanne or Brad they are the best and will definitely take care of you! Mike the owner is amazing. It's a great, laid back spot. I love the patio outside plus the projector to watch the games. They also show the fights with no cover charge which is amazing! Hands down the best bar in Boca!

Loved the outside projector with football. So nice with great weather. Doggies allowed. The Irish lady (wish I caught her name) was super nice. Definitely would go back. Laid back, welcoming atmosphere.

So let me preface this by saying I hadn't had a bad experience prior to this one, but the Black Rose s*** the bed on this night. On the Dog Rescue Bus Loop event 4/24, the Black Rose was a stop that offered a "well or draft all night" as part of the promotion. If you're not familiar with Bus Loop, you pay a set amount, get a wristband and receive a drink or appetizer at 10 different bars and restaurants. All other stops honored their promotional agreement with the Bus Loop except the Rose. They had the audacity to change the offer. The bouncer at the door, just doing his job I'm sure, was telling all Bus Loopers, the deal was "buy your first drink, get the second one free". Thinking this is bs, we proceeded to explore in any how. The poor bartendress, had the same story, so we left, without getting our promotional cocktail, and thus leaving a grand total of $0.00 for tip money. We likely would have spent more money and not just left immediately without spending a dime, had we received our free well drink. Instead, I'm writing this, am less likely to ever go there again, and we just walked to the 3 other stops that were within walking distance of the rose. Stupid business move, terrible pr and hurt their own service staff. Penny wise, pound foolish Rose. Real brilliant management knumbskulls.

I like this place, it's definitely a fun, laid-back and chill environment. Their outside area is really nice to hangout in. They have all of my favorite pub drinks which makes me happy. I love Magners Pear and a lot of places don't have that so I was really happy to see that they carried it. All of the employees are super nice and friendly and they all have smiles on their faces. It is definitely a very happy feeling environment. It's also nice to see that this place is exceptionally clean. I have been to a lot of different pubs where they are kind of dingy, run down and dirty, but this place was super clean, and so were the bathrooms. I was very impressed. I like The Black Rose Irish Pub a lot, its the perfect place to come and just hang out and play a game of pool. They also have a kitchen and menu for food and everything seems to look really good. This is definitely one of my favorite pubs and definitely one of the nicest ones in Boca. I can see why they do well and I hope they are here forever. They have my full support and I definitely am looking forward to the next time that I come back.

Don't judge a book by its cover! There are a million bars in East Boca, but this truly is a hidden gem. It's really relaxed and they have a pool table which is great if you want to poke some balls. The staff here is amazing, super friendly... especially Maria and Lisa. They have good ITB discounts too, so it's nice to just come by for a drink or 2, or 10 -- after work.

    (5)
  • Kayla W.

The drinks were okay, I've heard they have cheap drinks especially during happy hour! Not my ideal place to hang but the place looked like a fun and relaxing! They had a wide screen projector on the wall which is pretty cool to watch games and such on it while having a drink! I would def come back and check out their happy hour!

My first impression walking in was wow this is a clean dive bar!! Prices are rather reasonable and the staff was super friendly and attentive, even as the place got packed throughout the night. They also have pool tables, tv's though out the bar and a stage for live music. When I was there on a friday night they had a video DJ inside and live music on the patio.I didnt sit outside during my visit but they have a very nice outdoor patio area with a projection screen tv. I definitely will be coming back again!!

Highlights: VERY friendly staff, excellent spirits and beer selection, best happy hour prices and crowd around (7 days a week), really fun events throughout the week. Now, here's the what makes it stand out: My favourite local pub. Has been since Day One, when my girlfriend and I moved to Boca. We called up the Black Rose to find out about hours, food, events, etc... The bartender we spoke with, Lisa, couldn't have been nicer (and that's over the phone, mind you). She sold us--immediately. We finished hour errands and headed there for a Happy Hour beer. Lisa was the first person to welcome us to Boca, and did so in the most friendly manner, giving ideas for places to go, things to see, and, most importantly, getting to know us. Over the course of a year, my girlfriend and I got to know almost the entire staff at Black Rose, all of whom are incredibly friendly. And so are the patrons. There's an eclectic crowd that gathers here during Happy Hour (which, incidentally, is one of the best HH around), so you're guaranteed to strike up an interesting conversation, if you love meeting new people. It's usually nice and quiet during HH, so relaxing after the workday is easy. Nice selection of liquor, and the beer garden out back beats the hell out of The Biergarten next door, as does the beer. Thank you, Black Rose, for carrying such great beer. A revolving IPA of the month keeps your taste buds ever on their toes (pun intended), and the rest of the tap selection is as diverse and tasty; with the exception of Miller Lite, nestled in the line up for those less-adventurous folks. There's also a great selection of bottled beer. Happy Hours are generally quiet, with a small, diverse crowd. Great spot to catch a day time sports game (they show everything from cricket to baseball, boxing to MMA, rugby to futbol to football. Fri/Sat nights can get jamming, especially if there's a special event (you know, like Saturday night). Oh, and since it's coming up, make sure to stick near during Halloween, which lasts an entire week at Black Rose.

I LOVE this place! The staff is super friendly and more than happy to help you in any way possible! One of the (I guess you could call him a sever?) staff members named Andrew is so awesome! He is great about making sure you're enjoying yourself. Last time we were there he was telling us all about their art show they have every 6 weeks and encouraging me to bring my art in and set up a booth. Of course my favorite part is that they do ITB discounts every night! I recommend this place 100%

I have only been here on Thursday nights for karaoke and it still has me coming back. This spot is now where the old BoardRiders used to occupy. It is a spacious bar the offers a couple of bar games, a stage for bands or karaoke, and a comfy outdoor patio area. The selection of spirits is great. The bar area is open and kept clean. The bartenders are nice. I have had Maria and she is an absolute doll. My glass is never empty for too long and there are hooks on the bar for my bag. ITB discounts are awesome here and I have yet to try the food but I will update once I do. I like Black Rose. It's a nice new choice amongst the other 20 irish pubs that surround the East Boca area.

Last Friday my cousins and I went to this place to grab a few drinks and some food. I have to say, this is not your typical "pub" food. I truly hope the chef gets recognized here. The place is about a month old, and from what I hear and from what I've experienced, the chef is an "up & coming" newbie to the culinary world. I had the smoked pulled pork sliders with string beans and a side of mac'n cheese. Wow! Very well done. Home-made mac'n cheese that is good enough to be a meal of its own, but went great with the pulled pork sliders; of which were juicy and had a great smokey taste. All washed down with a great IPA they had on tap. If you're looking for a place to throw a few darts, or play a little pool, and want to eat a great meal, this is the place in Boca.

This bar has a laid-back, easy, come to drink, leave drunk kind of feel. The crowd is a mix but the big projection TV out back, picnic tables, games in every corner, and every liquor under the sun makes this a good spot. A bit different than the other jazzy spots in the Mizner area. You can tell the locals know this bar, and my guess is so do the more seasoned college students.

Solid Irish Pub. Feel like I was back in Dublin per the good vibes, friendly bar staff and value prices. Recommended as the Locals spot by hotel concierge-definitely would re-visit if/when back in Boca Raton.

Great new bar in boca. The staff was very friendly. Free darts, pool, lots of tvs for watching football. Great outdoor patio and bar. Can't wait to enjoy ciders out there on a sunny afternoon in south Florida. Oh yea, and the drinks were reasonably priced!
